Aspire Zone

Aspire Zone is Doha's major sports district, built for the 2006 Asian Games and now a permanent complex of stadiums, training academies, cycling tracks, parkland, and the Aspire Tower. The Khalifa International Stadium — renovated for the 2022 FIFA World Cup — is at its heart, along with the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.

The zone is also Doha's most accessible green space: a large park with a lake, cycling and running paths, and open lawns. On cooler evenings it draws families, joggers, and cyclists in numbers. The Villaggio Mall is adjacent if you want air conditioning and coffee after a circuit of the park.

A story
The Aspire Tower — the tilted flame-shaped skyscraper at the heart of the zone — was built for the 2006 Asian Games and reaches 300 metres. At the tip of the "flame" sits a gas burner that was lit during the opening ceremony but is rarely used since, as it costs a large amount to run and can be seen from much of southern Doha when lit.
