MIA Park

MIA Park occupies the land-side of the Museum of Islamic Art island, connected to the Corniche promenade by a footbridge. It is one of the more pleasant outdoor spaces in central Doha — shaded lawns, a small beach, a marina of traditional dhows, and unobstructed views across Doha Bay toward West Bay's skyline.

The park is best in the cooler months when the open-air cafés and picnic spots fill up with families on weekend evenings. It is quiet during the day. The café inside the Museum of Islamic Art itself (on the island, accessible via a short walk or ferry) serves good light food and has some of the finest views of the Corniche from any restaurant in the city.

A story
The park's central water feature — a large round fountain — was designed to frame the Museum of Islamic Art across the inlet. On calm evenings, the geometry of Pei's building reflected in the water is one of the cleaner views in Doha. The park also hosts the Museum of Illusions, a commercial entertainment venue that has nothing to do with Islamic art but draws steady family crowds.
