Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum is one of southern Taiwan's major religious and cultural sights, a vast complex of halls, pagodas, courtyards, and a huge seated Buddha. The scale is deliberate: it is built for pilgrimage, teaching, ceremony, and visitors all at once.
Even travellers with little background in Buddhism can appreciate the processional layout and the contrast between monumental architecture and quieter devotional spaces. It is outside central Kaohsiung, so give it time rather than squeezing it between city stops.
