Sanfeng Temple is one of Kaohsiung's oldest temples, founded in the 17th century and dedicated to the boy general Nezha. The surrounding lanes have become one of the city's busiest markets, with stalls and shops selling temple offerings, traditional snacks, dried goods, hardware, fabric and flowers.
The market is busiest in the mornings. Look for the godcake vendors near the temple — small pyramidal rice cakes filled with red bean or peanut. The temple itself, with its black-and-gold carved doors, is open all day and free to enter.
