Wat Samphanthawong is a royal temple in Bangkok's Chinatown, with roots in the Ayutthaya period when it was known as Wat Ko, or island temple. King Rama I made it a royal temple in 1796, and the main hall includes a Mara statue and rows of golden Buddhas.
