Ankeruhr

Jugendstil musical clock with figures from Viennese history

The Ankeruhr is a large Jugendstil clock spanning a small pedestrian bridge in the Innere Stadt. Designed by Franz Matsch between 1911 and 1914, it sends a sequence of historical Viennese figures across the dial as the hours pass.

It is a quick stop rather than a major sight, but it rewards anyone wandering the lanes north of Stephansdom. Try to pass by at noon, when the clock gives its full procession.
