Neidhart Fresken

Neidhart Fresken preserves a rare set of secular wall paintings inside a 14th-century building in the Innere Stadt. The frescoes were commissioned in 1398 and show scenes connected with the medieval singer and poet Neidhart von Reuental.

It is a small sight, but a rewarding one if you like Vienna's older layers. The appeal is in the survival of everyday, courtly, and comic medieval imagery in a city better known for baroque churches and imperial rooms.
