Werkbundsiedlung Wien is a 1930s modernist housing estate in Hietzing, created as a model settlement by leading Austrian and international architects. Josef Frank initiated the project, and contributors included Adolf Loos and Gerrit Rietveld.
The estate is small and quiet, but it is a worthwhile detour for architecture-minded visitors combining Hietzing with Schönbrunn. Several of the original houses survive, showing the compact, functional design ideas of the interwar Werkbund movement.
