A modest square in the Altstadt named for the medieval timber market. The eastern side is taken up by the Leibnizhaus — a baroque town house with a famously ornate Renaissance facade that was rescued in fragments from the wreckage of 1943 and reattached to a new building in 1983. Leibniz himself lived a few doors away.
The square is paved with the original cobbles and has a fountain in the middle. Pleasant for a short break and a coffee.
