NORD/LB Tower

17-storey curving glass headquarters of the regional state bank

The 17-storey 1990s headquarters of the state bank Norddeutsche Landesbank, on the eastern edge of the city centre. Designed by Stuttgart firm Behnisch + Partner, the curving glass volumes step outward as they rise, and a public passageway threads through the ground floor between Friedrichswall and Aegidientorplatz.

The interior atrium has a sculptural curved bridge by Anish Kapoor. The rooftop is not accessible, but the bank's ground-floor cafe is open to the public.
