The student district that wraps around Leibniz University north-west of the centre. Nordstadt is multicultural, cheap-ish, full of falafel and Vietnamese kitchens, and the home base of half the city's leftist political scene. The cafes around the Engelbosteler Damm ("Eddi") and the Faust cultural centre in a former tile factory are the cultural anchors.
A 20-minute walk north of the central station gets you here, or two stops on the U-Bahn.
