The triangular square at the heart of the Old Town, edged by the brick-Gothic Marktkirche on the south side and the Altes Rathaus on the east. The cobbles fill with a small farmers' market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and with beer-garden tables most of the summer.
The northern end was lined with half-timbered houses before the war; the present row of post-war buildings is more functional than decorative but the square still works as the social centre of the Altstadt.
