The historically working-class district west of the Leine, gradually colonised by students, artists and Turkish immigrants over the past forty years. Linden is now Hanover's alternative quarter — co-operative bars, second-hand shops, Sunday flea market at the Lindener Marktplatz, and the highest density of vegan restaurants in Lower Saxony.
The Lindener Berg above gives an unexpected open view of the city. The cluster of bars along the Limmerstraße is the local Friday-night standard.
