The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is a 2,111-seat auditorium on Grand Canal Square, designed by Daniel Libeskind and opened in 2010. Libeskind's building is deliberately theatrical — the angular glass and red steel surfaces perform on the square as much as the shows perform inside. It hosts major touring productions of musicals, opera, ballet, and concerts.
The theatre is the anchor of the Grand Canal Dock development and sits on one of the best public squares in Dublin — Martha Schwartz's landscape design with its red resin boardwalk and angled light towers is particularly striking at night.
