The Convention Centre Dublin, known to locals simply as the CCD, is the leaning glass cylinder that marks the north bank of the Docklands. Designed by the Irish-American architect Kevin Roche and opened in 2010, its tilted atrium drum is one of the most recognisable modern buildings in the city and a frequent backdrop on the riverside walk.
While primarily a business and events venue, the centre's striking form and floodlit night-time presence make it a landmark worth pausing at as you stroll the quays between the Samuel Beckett Bridge and Spencer Dock. The plaza in front offers good views back across the water to the Grand Canal Square theatre district.
