A small specialist museum in the medical faculty buildings north of the centre, displaying anatomical wax models commissioned in the 18th and 19th centuries for teaching. The collection is unflinching — flayed figures, dissected heads, models of pregnancies at every stage — and the cabinets and labels are little changed since their original use.
A genuinely unusual visit. Hours are limited and a small group booking is usually required; check with the University of Siena medical faculty.
