The most beautiful street in Siena, running west from the Croce del Travaglio along the ridge of the city's central hill. Its curve follows the contour of the slope, and most of the great Gothic palaces along it — Chigi-Saracini, Marsili, Piccolomini — have curved façades to match.
The street is lined with high-end shops, bookbinders, and the occasional Sienese pastry shop selling ricciarelli and panforte. The buildings overhang at the top floors, narrowing the sky to a strip.
