Adolphe Bridge

The signature span across the Pétrusse, joining the Haute Ville with the Gare district. Twin sandstone arches carry a roadway that doubles as the route of the city's modern tram. A glass-floored pedestrian deck slung underneath the road bed was added in the 2017 restoration — vertigo-inducing but a good way to appreciate the geometry of the structure from below.

Walk across by day for the engineering, by night for the lit-up view of the valley.

A story
When it opened in 1903, the Adolphe Bridge was the largest stone arch bridge in the world — 84 metres in a single span across the Pétrusse valley. The Luxembourgers nicknamed it 'the new bridge' and have been calling it that for over 120 years.
