Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg

The city's main opera and ballet venue, in a mid-century building (1964) by Alain Bourbonnais on the edge of the Limpertsberg plateau. The exterior, with its giant abstract sculpture facing Rond-Point Schuman, is more memorable than the modest auditorium. The programme is mainly opera, dance, and serious theatre, with a strong international slant.

Tickets are reasonably priced and seats are easy to get for most performances — unlike at the Philharmonie.
