Plaza de Toros de Valencia

Valencia's neoclassical bullring, modelled on the Roman arenas at Nîmes and Arles, was completed in 1860 next to the Estació del Nord. Fights are held mostly during the Fallas in March, the July fair, and the October feria, and the rest of the year the ring hosts concerts, motor shows, and a small bullfighting museum.

Whatever your views on the corridas, the ring itself is a handsome piece of 19th-century engineering — two tiers of brick arches and a deep sand floor — and the small museum next door is worth a quick visit for the costumes, posters, and trophy bull heads.
