Ruzafa

Ruzafa (Russafa in Valencian) is the city's hipster engine — a once-working-class neighbourhood south of the old town that has reinvented itself, since the early 2000s, as a clearinghouse for design shops, third-wave coffee, vermouth bars, and small art galleries. The covered market at its centre still works as a neighbourhood market and is worth a stop on its own.

The eating-and-drinking scene is the best in the city for visitors with money and a casual approach — go around the Mercado de Russafa, the streets of Cuba and Sueca, and the Plaza del Doctor Landete. The Filmoteca de Valencia, in a converted 1930s cinema, is the place for arthouse films.
