The Near Caves are the older tunnel complex beneath Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, with narrow passages, monastic burials, and small chapels lit by candles. They are one of the most atmospheric parts of the monastery, but the visit is devotional as much as historical, so dress and behave accordingly.
