Trukhaniv Island

A long, low, wooded island in the Dnieper opposite the city centre, connected to the right bank by a pedestrian bridge from Volodymyrska Hill. The island has sandy beaches on its western shore, weeping willows along the inland canal, cycling paths, and a handful of beach bars. On a hot summer afternoon, half of central Kyiv decamps here.

The island is also where you go to look back at the Upper Town and Pechersk skyline — golden domes, the Motherland Monument, and the Lavra all line the high right bank from this angle. Free to enter.
