A Jacobean mansion built between 1618 and 1635 for Sir Thomas Holte, located in Aston Park about 2 miles north of the city centre. The house is one of the last great Jacobean mansions to be built in England and is unusually intact, with original long gallery, staterooms, and kitchen. It is managed by Birmingham Museums and houses period furniture, fine art, and silverware. King Charles I stayed here in 1642 on the eve of the Battle of Edgehill.
