Hector Lake

Glacially-fed turquoise lake backed by the Waputik Range

Hector Lake sits in a glacial basin on the Icefields Parkway, about 16 km north of Lake Louise. The water is a vivid green-turquoise from glacial flour, and the northern end opens dramatically against the Waputik Range with Mt. Balfour visible to the southwest. There's no maintained trail to the lakeshore — most visitors pull over at the highway viewpoint, which is still well worth the stop.
