Dragon Park (Fannie Mae Dees Park)

Fannie Mae Dees Park, known to everyone as Dragon Park, is a small neighbourhood park between Hillsboro Village and 21st Avenue South. Its main attraction is the enormous mosaic sea-serpent sculpture coiling through the playground — designed by Pedro Silva and completed by community volunteers in 1981, with thousands of children pressing tiles and shaped fragments into the wet concrete back of the creature.

The dragon is climbable, popular with small children, and a Nashville landmark for anyone who grew up in the city. The remainder of the park is unremarkable but pleasant — a covered pavilion, a basketball court, and benches under tall trees.
