The Lane Motor Museum, in a former 1950s Sunbeam Bakery on Murfreesboro Pike, houses one of the largest collections of European, microcar, and "strange" vehicles in the country — more than 500 cars and motorcycles, almost all road-ready and rotated out for periodic drives. The emphasis is on the obscure: Eastern Bloc Trabants and Wartburgs, French Citroëns, British amphibious cars, three-wheelers, propeller-driven cars, military oddities.
The basement holds the vehicles not currently on display and is open by tour every other Saturday — for many visitors it is the highlight of the visit. The museum is run as a non-profit and is one of the few US car museums where you can actually see how things change over time. Allow two hours.
