The Marathon Motor Works built cars on this site from 1910 to 1914 — the only American-made car ever produced in Tennessee. The vast 1881 brick factory and a cluster of associated buildings have been restored as a creative complex of small shops, restaurants, music studios, and the Marathon Village Visitor Centre.
Notable tenants: Antique Archaeology, the Nashville branch of the American Pickers operation, with a permanent retail shop and a small museum of finds; Corsair Distillery, a small-batch whiskey and gin distillery with a tasting room and tours; and a handful of independent artisans, photographers, and music producers. A nice contrast to the new-build Gulch two blocks away.
