Declaration of Independence Memorial

The Declaration of Independence Memorial is a quiet stop on the island in Constitution Gardens Lake, dedicated to the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence. Their signatures are carved into large granite blocks, turning the familiar names from the document into a small physical memorial.

It is easy to miss beside the larger monuments of the National Mall, but it rewards a short detour between the World War II, Vietnam Veterans, and Lincoln memorials.
