Howard Theatre

Howard Theatre is one of Washington, D.C.'s landmark performance spaces, opened in 1910 and long central to Black cultural life in the city. Its stage hosted major jazz, soul, gospel, and R&B performers, and the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The theatre was restored and reopened in the 2010s after decades of decline. It is most rewarding if you can catch a show, but the building also works as a useful landmark on a walk through Shaw and the U Street area.
