U.S. Navy Memorial

The U.S. Navy Memorial is a public memorial on Pennsylvania Avenue, centred on a map-like plaza and the Lone Sailor statue. It is smaller and less solemn than Washington's major war memorials, but it gives the Navy a visible place in the ceremonial core of the city.

It is an easy stop when walking between the National Archives, the National Gallery, and Penn Quarter. Allow a short visit unless you have a particular interest in naval history.
