The best contemporary art space in La Boca, and one of the better private foundations in the city. Fundación Proa occupies a restored colonial building on the Vuelta de Rocha — the bend of the Riachuelo canal — with views across the water toward the old docklands. The programme focuses on major international exhibitions (Warhol, Koons, Yoko Ono have all been shown here) alongside significant Argentine contemporary artists.
The bookshop is one of the best art bookshops in Buenos Aires, with a good selection of Argentine and Latin American art history. The café on the top floor has the best view from the building. Much better than Caminito a few blocks away if you are in La Boca for more than the obvious.
