The Casa de Oración Hebrea — the Coro Synagogue — was built in 1869 by the Sephardic community that had settled the city a generation earlier. It is one of the oldest synagogues still standing in South America and the only colonial-era synagogue in Venezuela. The building is small and externally indistinguishable from the neighbouring houses on Calle Talavera — a feature of Sephardic synagogue design in a region where conspicuous Jewish identity was discouraged.
The interior preserves the original wooden bimah, benches, and the ark with its Hebrew inscriptions. It now functions as a museum of Coro's Jewish heritage rather than a working synagogue. Hours are erratic; the easiest way in is to combine the visit with an appointment to see the Jewish cemetery.
