Babughat is one of Kolkata's oldest surviving river ghats, built in 1830 by Rani Rashmoni in memory of her husband, Babu Raj Chandra Das. Its Doric pavilion still gives the riverfront a grand colonial frame, even as daily life presses hard around it.
Come for the mix of architecture, ritual bathing, ferries, vendors, and idol immersions along the Hooghly. It is not polished, but it shows the city using the river rather than just looking at it.
