Prinsep Ghat

Prinsep Ghat is a riverside memorial on the Hooghly, named for James Prinsep, the 19th-century East India Company official and scholar. The white Palladian porch is one of Kolkata's most graceful colonial-era riverfront landmarks.

Come for the view as much as the monument: Vidyasagar Setu rises just downstream, and the riverfront promenade is at its best in the softer light toward evening.
