Tazaung

Tazaung is a small Burmese Buddhist pagoda set on an island-like spot in a pond on the Maidan. Lord Dalhousie brought it from Prome, now Pyay in Myanmar, and had it erected here in 1854.

It is a compact stop rather than a major monument, but the pagoda's origin makes it one of the Maidan's more curious colonial-era pieces.
