State Archaeological Museum

The State Archaeological Museum holds antiquities and artefacts from excavations across West Bengal, including material from the Bronze Age and later historic periods. It is smaller and more specialised than the Indian Museum, but useful for visitors with a real interest in Bengal's archaeological record.

The museum is in Behala, away from the usual central Kolkata sightseeing circuit, so it is best treated as a focused stop rather than something to add casually between central sights.
