A small, exquisite Safavid tomb in the bazaar quarter east of the Imam Reza Shrine, the Tomb of Pir Palandouz commemorates a 16th-century Sufi mystic and saddle-maker. The little octagonal building, with its blue-tiled dome and slender minarets, is easy to miss among the surrounding bazaar streets but worth seeking out for the quality of the original Safavid tilework.
The bazaar around the tomb is one of the most atmospheric in the old city, a working market for pilgrims rather than a tourist destination. A short walk from the shrine.
