The Comédie-Française is France's great state theatre company, based at the Salle Richelieu beside the Palais Royal. The theatre was enlarged in the 19th century and rebuilt after a serious fire in 1900, and it remains one of the most important stages in French drama.
You do not need perfect French to appreciate the setting, but a performance is the reason to come. Check the programme in advance; the repertory ranges from Molière and Racine to newer work.
