Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe

The Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe — Museum of Arts and Crafts — is housed in a Neoclassical 1877 building opposite the central railway station. It is one of Germany's oldest and most varied applied-arts collections, with rooms on European porcelain, Asian decorative arts, Art Nouveau and Bauhaus design, fashion, posters, musical instruments and a recently expanded photography section.

The standout rooms vary depending on what's on rotation. The reconstructed Paris Exposition rooms of 1900, the Hindemith music room and the kimono collection are highlights when on display. The on-site café Destille is one of the most pleasant museum cafés in the city, with a small terrace.
