Sprinkenhof

The Sprinkenhof, designed by Fritz Höger and the Gerson brothers in 1927–43, is the second great Kontorhaus of the Speicherstadt district. Where the neighbouring Chilehaus is a single sharp wedge, the Sprinkenhof is broader and lower, with a façade of dark Oldenburg brick patterned all over with terracotta lozenges and ceramic crests — the heaviest, most decorative brickwork in the quarter.

It is still in commercial use as offices. The public passage that runs through the ground floor between Burchardplatz and the Brandstwiete is open during working hours and lets you see the courtyard with its bronze relief figures. The Klosterhof entrance off Burchardplatz is the most dramatic.
