The Baumwipfelpfad Rügen is a 1,250-metre wooden walkway through the beech canopy of the Prora forest, climbing gently to a viewing tower that spirals around a single ancient beech. From the top, at around 40 metres above the ground, the view stretches from the Jasmund cliffs to the Baltic and out across the chalk-white facades of Binz.
The structure is fully accessible and threaded with educational panels about the forest ecosystem. It is one of several treetop walks of its kind in Germany; the Rügen one is among the most attractively sited. Combine it with a visit to Prora, ten minutes' walk away.
