Fera o Luni — the Monday Fair — is the city's other great street market, set in Piazza Carlo Alberto a couple of blocks east of Via Etnea. The name is a fossil: it now runs every day except Sunday rather than only on Mondays, and includes clothes, household goods, fruit and vegetables on alternating days.
It is less of a tourist sight than the fish market but a better place to see how the wider city shops. The surrounding streets have low-priced trattorias and an outpost of the local bakery chain that does the best siciliano sandwich for blocks.
