San Placido

San Placido is a small baroque church and former Benedictine monastery on its own little piazza a block east of the cathedral. The facade is by Stefano Ittar, the architect of the Basilica della Collegiata, and the interior has good frescoes and an unusual oval ground plan.

The piazza in front of the church is one of the quieter spots in the centre, with a couple of cafés and rarely more than a handful of people.
