Porta Uzeda is the gate at the southern end of Via Etnea, immediately behind the cathedral. It was built in 1696 as part of the rebuilding after the earthquake and named for the Spanish viceroy Don Manuel de los Cobos, Duke of Uzeda.
The arched gate frames a clear view of the cathedral on one side and the harbour on the other. The walls on either side are punctuated by small archaeological showcases displaying Roman and Greek finds from the area.
