An uninhabited island a few kilometres east of Paradise Island, popular as a half-day snorkel and beach excursion. The reef around it is shallow and easy, with good coral and reliable fish life — much better than the heavily-trafficked snorkelling spots closer to Nassau.
Most visitors arrive on guided trips from Paradise Island marinas; some operators run "powerboat adventures" that combine Athol with a stop at the stingray feeding site. No facilities on the island itself. Bring shoes for the rocks at the swimming beach.
