A small but lively museum on West Bay Street dedicated to Junkanoo — the Bahamian street festival that dominates Boxing Day and New Year's morning. Displays include enormous past-year costumes that survived the parades, traditional drums and cowbells, and a history of the festival from its origins in slave-era Christmas processions.
Most rewarding if you cannot be in Nassau over the holidays to see the real thing. Allow forty-five minutes. The shop sells whistles, cowbells, and the elaborate crepe-paper-and-cardboard costumes used in the kids' Junkanoo.
