Tlaquepaque

Guadalajara's artisan quarter with blown glass and ceramics

Once a separate town, now part of greater Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque is the city's artisan heart. Cobblestoned streets lined with workshops and galleries sell hand-blown glass, Talavera ceramics, papier-mache figures, and wrought iron. The pedestrian Calle Independencia is the main artery. End your visit at El Parian, a large covered kiosk where mariachi bands compete for your attention and your tips.
