Parque Agua Azul is Guadalajara's main urban park — a large green space south of the historic centre with orchid gardens, butterfly houses, a small zoo, and shaded walking paths. It is popular with families on weekends and with anyone wanting to escape the heat and noise of the centre. The orchid greenhouse is the standout attraction: hundreds of varieties, well-maintained and labelled.
Adjacent to the park are several cultural facilities, including the Jalisco Arts and Crafts Institute, where Talavera pottery and traditional weaving are demonstrated and sold.
