The Regional Museum of Ceramics in Tonalá, east of Tlaquepaque, makes the case that the pottery traditions of the Guadalajara region are among the most significant in Mexico. The collection covers pre-Hispanic ceramics through colonial-era Talavera to contemporary Jalisco craft, showing both the evolution of technique and the persistence of certain forms across centuries.
If you are visiting Tonalá's market and workshops, the museum makes an excellent complement — it gives context to the production you see in the streets. Small, well-curated, and usually quiet. Free admission.
